Step 4: Tell Us Your Story (Interview)

Once we review your application and documents, we’ll invite you and your child to a friendly 45-minute conversational interview with a member of our Admissions team. Interviews can be held in person or virtually. This is our opportunity to get to know your teenager as a learner and as a person — their interests, their questions, and their curiosity about Lakefield.

What We Look For in Applicants

Every student who joins Lakefield brings something unique — their interests, outlook, creativity, and way of contributing to a community.

When we review applications, we look beyond transcripts to understand who your teenager is becoming and how they might thrive in an environment that is immersive, relational, and grounded in purpose.

We look for students who demonstrate:

  • Authenticity and self-reflection — honest about who they are and what matters to them.
  • Curiosity and openness — interested in ideas, willing to ask questions, and ready to engage.
  • A growth mindset — comfortable with challenge, humour, and learning as a process.
  • Intellectual ambition — eager to stretch themselves and contribute to meaningful discussions.
  • Readiness for immersive learning — energized by collaboration, creativity, and learning by doing.
  • Openness to our Outdoors Every Day philosophy — willing to try new experiences and build confidence through nature and community life.
